Castizo Spain
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 17 June 2026
The short version
Castizo Spain (castizospain.com) is a content directory. You don’t need an account to use it, and we only collect an email address if you choose to subscribe to our list. We use two analytics tools to understand how the site is used — one anonymous and cookieless, one that may set cookies and collect more detailed visit and device data (described below) — plus an announcement bar and standard map and video embeds.
Who we are
This site is operated by the owner of castizospain.com (“we”, “us”). For privacy-related questions, contact us at hey@castizospain.com.
What we collect
- Anonymous usage statistics via Ahrefs Web Analytics. This is cookieless by design and does not identify individual visitors. We see aggregated counts of page visits, referrer sources, country, and device type. We do not see your IP address in identifiable form.
- Visit analyticsvia VisitorTracking. This tool records page visits and on-site activity and may set cookies and process technical data such as your IP address, browser, device, approximate location, and (for visits from corporate networks) the organisation associated with that network. It is used to understand site traffic and interest. It does not capture your name or contact details, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles. See VisitorTracking’s own privacy policy for how it processes this data.
- Standard server access logskept by our hosting provider (Vercel). These are used only for security and reliability; we don’t mine them for marketing.
- Your email address — only if you give it. If you subscribe through our signup form or announcement bar, your email address (and name, if you provide one) is collected and stored by our email provider, Kit (formerly ConvertKit). We use it only to send you the updates or content you signed up for. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email, and we never sell or rent your address.
- Otherwise, nothing. No account system, no contact forms that store data, no comments.
Third-party content we embed
When you load a town page, the following third parties may receive a request from your browser because their content is embedded on the page. We don’t share data with them ourselves; the connection is made by your browser.
- Wikimedia Commons— serves the photographs.
- OpenStreetMap— serves the map tiles for the interactive map.
- Google Maps— the “Ratings & reviews” card is a Google Maps embed; Google may set its own cookies in that iframe.
- YouTube (via youtube-nocookie.com)— on pages with a video. The privacy-enhanced variant means no cookies are set unless you press play.
- AlertBar Pro— powers the announcement bar at the top of the site. It may set a cookie or use local storage to remember whether you’ve dismissed the bar, and may record anonymous impression and click counts.
- Kit (formerly ConvertKit)— our email provider. If you submit the signup form, your details are sent to and stored by Kit. It is not loaded unless you choose to subscribe.
Each of these providers has its own privacy policy. We have no access to or control over their data practices.
Cookies
Our VisitorTracking analytics may set cookies to recognise repeat visits. Third-party embeds (notably Google Maps) may also set cookies if you interact with them. Our other analytics tool (Ahrefs) is cookieless. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time; the site will still work.
Your rights (GDPR / UK GDPR)
Aside from an email address you choose to give us, we don’t ask for your contact details — but that email, and some technical data processed by our analytics (such as IP address and device information), can count as personal data under the GDPR. You have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data we hold, to object to processing, and to lodge a complaint with your data-protection authority. To exercise any of these, contact us at the address above and we will respond within a reasonable timeframe. Much of this technical data is held by our analytics providers; their own privacy policies set out how to make requests directly to them.
Children
This site is general-audience and not directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top will reflect the latest version. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.
