History of Linares de Mora
By the mid-19th century Linares had around 600 inhabitants and an entry in Pascual Madoz's landmark geographical dictionary of Spain. The town was known simply as Linares until 1916, when a national reform of municipal names added "de Mora" to distinguish it. In 1971 its territory expanded when the neighbouring municipality of Castelvispal was incorporated into it.
The historic town centre was declared a bien de interés cultural in 2004.
