History of Mesones de Isuela
The town was historically known simply as Mesones, a name it carried until 1916, when a reform of municipal nomenclature added "de Isuela" to distinguish it. At some point in the mid-nineteenth century it recorded a population of 525 inhabitants, and it earned an entry in Pascual Madoz's landmark geographical and statistical dictionary of Spain, a major reference work of that era.
